BARSKA Gladiator 12-60x70 Zoom Binocular w/ Tripod Adapter I grabbed these on sale for 41.00$, what a difference from my 10X50's, These binoculars work as advertised. They are better suited to terrestrial views rather than astronomy, mainly due to the narrow field-of-view. The FOV starts out narrow and shrinks dramatically with zoom. This makes astronomical viewing far less aesthetic than fixed binoculars that cost 4 or 5 times as much. At a zoom level of 44, the eyepiece separation must be carefully set. They stay mostly in focus as you zoom in and out, which is an important convenience. Some may find these things hard to use to their best advantage due to the narrow FOV. However, you can see amazing detail with them. I could see sheet metal screw heads on a stove pipe at dairy mart about a 1/8 mile away. When I checked out recent slope slippage mud flow from recent rains at a neighbor's across the valley, the detail didn't get any better by taking a 10-minute walk over there. One way or another I frequently use these things, and they're fun within their limitations. Some people may find them hard to use to their full advantage due to the narrow FOV, and the weight could also be an issue. You can see objects slowly moving around Pluto if you look real hard ;) and nice detail on the Moon, but the experience would be more enjoyable with a wider FOV.

Outdoor sightseeing has been a great experience with a pair of these I bought last year. I wasn't quite sure at first whether this was a product worthwhile since at greater zoom levels -no matter what the product details say- your image will go a little blurry coz your the moment your hands shake any binocular will loose focus. Again having said that, I wouldn't deny the fact that I also bought a great and sturdy pair of tripod with these... I would still say--These are a great pair. I am glad to have invested in a good pair of binoculars.
